Explore with us some of the filming locations featured in The Law According to Lidia Poët, the Italian historical crime drama television series released in 2023. The show is loosely based on the life of Lidia Poët, Italy’s first modern female lawyer. In 1881, she accomplished her law degree at the University of Turin  with top marks.

Here is a short list of easily accessible spots used as filming locations:

In the city center

  • Piazza Carlo Alberto featuring the imposing façade of the 19th-century enlargement of Palazzo Carignano.
  • Palazzo Carignano - Guarino Guarini - The Law according to Lidia Poët and Turin - Lidia fait sa loi et TurinPiazza Carignano boasting the eponymous brick building, designed by the great baroque architect Guarino Guarini. Palazzo Carignano now serves as a historical museum dedicated to Italy’s unification process (Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento).
  • Mole Antonelliana: this is the landmark of Turin, now housing the National Cinema Museum and a panoramic lift. In 1883, at the beginning of the story in the Netflix series, the building was not yet completed. In the city skyline shown in The Law According to Lidia Poët, the spire is missing.
  • Piazza della Consolata: Here, you can see the oldest belltower in the city, belonging to the Chiesa della Consolata, an ornate church with an impressive collection of ex-votos. These are offerings (mainly paintings or artifacts) given by the faithful to fulfill a vow made in times of distress, such as illness, accidents, storms, or war. The collection provides a moving overview of daily life.

Outside the city center

  • Cimitero Monumentale: In one episode, the burial of a murdered young girl takes place in this historic cemetery, which is lined with porticoes and rich in stunning funerary monuments.
  • Parco del Valentino: A gorgeous park on the left shore of the Po River, full of beautiful surprises, including a 17th-century castle belonging to the House of Savoy (Castello del Valentino), a replica of a medieval village built for the 1884 World Exhibition, remarkable old trees, and pretty flower beds. The Turin Hills - Capuchin Mountain - Monte dei Cappuccini - Collines de Turin - The Law according to Lidia Poët and Turin - Lidia fait sa loi et Turin

  • Società Canottieri Armida: Established in 1869, it is one of the oldest rowing clubs on the shores of the Po River in Turin.
  • Carcere Le Nuove: This historic prison was in use until 1986, when it was replaced by a new facility on the outskirts of Turin. In recent years, it has been transformed into a museum.
